My Life at Depok

 

Since i decided to move in Depok a couple months ago, there is something that i felt different about this city than Jakarta, the city that i lives before. Even it still one of the satelite city of Jakarta and known as part of the Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) and has many similar things with Jakarta, Depok has something that surprises me. Depok, the city that famous when Indonesia's covid-19 first case founded on early march 2020 actually has many things that i didn't expect.

I moved to Depok when my rent house in Jakarta ended in August. The reason why i chose to this city is because it actually my first plan when i would start my master degree program on august 2018. I really want to live near the campus, to feel the student life again, but it didn't happen because some reason at that time. Now when i already get my master degree title, i finally moves to this city.

The first thing that surprise me about this city is about the food. Even the kind of food quiet similar with Jakarta, but the price is cheaper. One Nasi Padang that i bought Rp. 16-19k in Jakarta is just Rp.10k in Depok, the price that really help for Anak Rantau like me. Nasi Padang is one the food that often becomes my main dishes and it can be found almost in every part of this city and even of our nation. It simple to know why this kind of food quiet popular for most of our people including me, it is because the taste is nice and the portion is large. :D

Food is not the only one of the cheap things in Depok. Even the rent house in Depok or what we called as kos-kosan is cheaper than in Jakarta. Before living in Depok, i look for a rent house but cannot find that suits for me or my budget in Jakarta. The different thing happened when i tried to find kos-kosan at Depok, the first kos-kosan that i was survey directly to be my choice. The reason is simple because the rent price is under of the average price of that in Jakarta.

The next interesting thing about Depok is about the environment. Even Depok has some poluted place like what we all know about Jakarta, but it still better than Jakarta. The first week when i lived in Depok, i can feel that the air is more clean. I remember once when i walk under the rain in Jakarta makes me sick at the next day that maybe caused by the polluted air. But it didn't happen here even the rain comes a lot of times when i walk to home from the train station because i always forgot to bring an umbrella with me.

Now, it is almost 4 months that i lived in Depok since September and i dont know where the god will bring me next. It such a miracle for me to arrive here from a distant place. For the next article, maybe i will tell about my Job that i still searching for or maybe the other place that i will live in.
